I like:
watching
Dislike:
1. standing around waiting to race
2. the costs of repairs and mods
3. dishonest cheeters
All the time and effort it takes to race may be good for some, but
I'd rather be free riding, exploring, and hanging with friends.
Interesting feedback, hopefully the new format will try to do away with cheaters but there had to be an element of trust at some level. We are trying to eliminate the standing around part however the cost of mods and repairs is something we hope our supporting vendors can help with.
I guess to keep costs down a person could enter the stock class then no mods would be required to be competitive.
I like this feedback, cumon guys what do you all think?

I just ventured into the side by side world and I haven't raced mine yet. Being a park owner I have put on a few SXS races. With that being said here is my take on SXS racing.
ME:
I believe it is going to be the next big thing because to me it is like driving a baja truck which I would love to do. I have competed in a lot of motocross and woods racing over the past 35+ years so racing is in my blood.
My #1 concern is the repair cost when you wreck your machine. It is lot like wrecking a dirt bike or atv. Cost go way up there.
#2 is people running the correct class. Which falls into the cheater catergory.
Park Owner:
#1 Complainers- it doesn't matter what you do you will have them. People need to talk about the good things about a place and not the bad.
#2 Classes- if these are enforced then it will keep the cheaters away. It is great if you can spend $30K or more on your machine but most people can't. We need everyone to race from stock to mod. That will bring some great racing.
Love to watch some good racing and enjoy riding around with my family. We did it for years on dirt bikes but it is more enjoyable on the side by side.
Standing around is never fun but it happens in all racing. With the new format that should help with a lot of that.
In all, I really enjoy the side by side community and look forward to seeing it grow. When a sport gets bigger that means more racing.
We need more feed back on this topic to help get the racing going.
Hi there, you know, my take on complainers is that some of them are valid and some of them just like to find fault in everything. If someone gets a bad start it's because the track was slick or some other crap. Never because they weren’t ready or maybe their tires are the wrong type or pressure.
Hopefully a lot of the problems from complainers regarding starts will diminish with the new format. I wish we could say more but we have to stay a little tight lipped right now.
Classes are pivitol to a good championship, I know I would love to race, but for me there are still kinks that need to be worked out. Again we are trying to address this and I think we will. Some of the best racing in the world comes from the "slower" classes as they are more competitive.
The new format will cover this comprehensively as I really believe that we need to foster the spirit of racing, one might argue that UTV racing is grass roots off road racing, tell that to the guy that just blew his wad and his 40K into it. Grass roots for me is the stock racer, racers that just love to race but maybe don't have the ability to blow 40k.
Tracks are vital, quality circuits will help with the damage sustained to racers vehicles. Decent racing can occur with smashing the heck out of racers and rides alike. When tracks are scoped out and routes are decided they will be driven at race speed and notes taken. If changes need to be made to accommodate the new format then we need to look heavily into what it would take to make it right.
Information from racers and people that want to race but wont is vital. If we can gain the input from the knowledgeable public we will make a big impact on UTV racing, and I agree, this stuff is in its infancy and UTV's SxS's in all their forms will just get better and better and the sport as a whole both racing and free riding will grow and grow.
If you have a love of racing or just have a vague interest in the scene then get involved and make yourself heard in this thread. With great parks and owners like Broad River, Doc Hilt Trails and Durham Town Plantation you have a great opertunity to reallt make a difference.
Make yourself heard, make post in this thread!

Hey every one!
I really like the people in the UTV racing community. Like a big family. I also like running with my hair on fire in a controlled environment.
Dislikes.
I think the GNCC format is good for the ATV and bikes, but needs to be changed alittle for the UTVs. The first one into the woods wins. The rest of the drivers are dealing with dust and trying not to run into trees. I've been lucky enough to win a couple of races this year but it's not because I'm a better driver or that my ride is faster, I just won the holeshot! At every race this year there are at least 2 to 6 rides with the wheels torn off from running into trees. I think this keeps the weekend racers from coming back because it just costs too much to repair a UTV.
I'm sure some good ideas will come from this thread. Maybe a timed event. Race against the clock?
Thanks to the park owners for putting on the races, we racers don't tell you that enough!
Oh one more thing,
I would like to do some short course racing also.
Hi and welcome,
I have to say that all the things you have sited as a dislike we are aiming to fix in the "Rally Raid" format. I can give you some rough info that we are outling at the moment that will help the weekend racers.
1, Eliminate the hole shot lottery,
This will be done by allowing racers to start 30 seconds apart
2, Fair start times
This will be done by running a qualifiying session in the am of the race day. This will make it an event day and not just a few hours.
3, Cutting down on dust
Hopefully the 30 second starts will help with this
4, Allow for fast paced racing and less damage
This will be done by keeping courses more open and fast flowing. Width of the race track is vital here. Tracks can still run thtough the forest but they need to be wide and have run off. This will allow for passing in the twisties thus rewarding for skill and help to stop people hitting trees and such.
5, Pupose built courses
This will allow for a defined racing path and take some risk out for the driver
6, Timed event
The courses will be about 10 miles per lap and run for about four laps. The winner will be decided by the driver that covers the four laps in the fastest time.
7, Performance
Right now we see four classes, Stock, Pro Stock, Limited, Unlimited.
8, Each park that hosts a race will run with the same rule book, all parks will deliver the same trophies and we will work together with the parks as a travelling series so the courses will change but you will be garunteed the same level of quality each time you race at one of the "Rally Raid" meetings
There is much more info to come but this is the base outline of the SouthEastSxS Racing Network 'Rally Raid Series". It is nice of you to thank the parks. i know some of the park owners and trust me when I tell you that all they ever hear is people complaining to them when they host races. I am sure your thanks are most welcome.
The current idea is that the race series is created and administerd by SouthEastSxS.com they will be hosted by each of the excellent venues that we are working with.
Hope this info helps you, we welcome all feedback.

That sounds GREAT! Even if the Revolts don't have a class I hope you will allow us to run any way.
Set yourself up with a garage on the site, they are free and every member of the site gets 3 garages.
I would love to see some pics of that Revolt and your RZR.
